Top 100 producers 2019 as “DISCOVERY OF THE YEAR

"Olivier Faucon writes the story of a successful return to the land. After a first life as an international executive, he chose to settle in the heart of the appellation Terrasses du Larzac. With a constant attention of all times to a viticulture of organic inspiration with very small yields, he signs a second astonishing vintage.
Beautiful reds, of rare concentration with smooth tannin, with saline finish. It is the finesse of tannin that impresses here. Getting close to great wines in such a short time does not go unnoticed. "

Great start
“Olivier Faucon from Mas Combarèla was participating in  the  [Terrasses  du  Larzac  Circulade  Vigneronne] ballade for the first time and showing his rosé from his very first 2016 vintage, Des Si et des Mi. It is a blend of Grenache  and  Cinsaut,  with  some  fresh  fruit,  a  herbal note and an elegant finish and made a great start.”

Good fruit
“A pretty light pink and on the nose some firm herbal nose. A rounded palate with good fruit and fresh acidity. Comparing two vintages, the older belied the idea that you should always drink the youngest rosé available; it has benefitted from an extra year’s bottle age.”

“I had a real crush for this wine from Languedoc! It
gathers together a nice freshness of pink grapefruit and redcurrant. Gourmet and juicy, it is a real pleasure wine for the aperitif and for food pairing ! Don’t forget to put a second bottle in the fridge just in case... A superb success for the first vintage of Olivier Faucon !”

“Medium orangey pink. Bone, bone dry. A strong leafy (bay leaf?) backdrop to some very lightly spicy, sharp strawberry fruit. Mouth-drawing with a touch of tannin toward the end. Food wine. ”

"Light, fresh and vibrant rosé with pretty aromas of pink grapefruit, morello cherry and raspberry. Very clean and very fresh. Suggestion: with a tray of sushi. "

"Encouraging beginnings for this rosé of great freshness with a real intensity at the finish. Minty, on a basket of fresh red fruits. "

“Bright light golden colour. Youthful nose with peppery and herbal notes, white fleshed fruit like apple, pear and citrus notes. Medium weight on the palate, white pepper, fennel and herbal notes with green apple and a medium long persistency, a slight bitterness present on the finish.“

Nice
length
“Quite a golden color. Rounded with good acidity and some herbal and a fresh finish. About 10% is given some bâtonnage, which fills out the palate, without adding any oak flavor. Nice length and a good finale to the tasting.”

power in the vintage than the infusion of fruits. Food wine that will be able to resist white meats."

“A first step successful for this brand-new estate with a very expressive wine. Its nose opens up on wild berries, spices and forest undergrowth. A supple and fresh attack introduces a dense and tannic palate, warm with tight tannins, (...) aromas of ripped fruits, bay leaf, blackcurrant and licorice. A bottle with a lot of personality that will refine more and more over time.”

Fruity “The aim of the wine is easy drinking, and it achieves just that. It is ripe and fruity with a streak of tannin, red fruit, balanced but some spicy and nicely rounded on the finish.” Master of Wine - Languedoc

tannins
“The Cinsault is fermented in stainless steel vats and élevé in eggs for 12 months. It has a lovely spicy cheery nose, and palate, with some supple tannins. There is plenty of spice, cinnamon, cloves and pepper on the palate.

"The sample we tasted really impressed. The color was much darker than the standard Cinsault grape, the nose exhaled blackberry, blackcurrant, gooseberry. Very powerful mouth with a perfectly smooth tannin. A great start for one of the best cinsaults in the region. "

Harmonious
tannins
“Deep colour. Quite rounded ripe spicy fruit. Medium
weight palate with spice and harmonious tannins. A
blend of 50% Syrah, 25% Carignan, about 22%
Grenache and a drop of Cinsaut, all grown on the
vineyard in Arboras, up in the hills, with very stony soil.
The elevage is half in eggs, and a quarter in demi-
muids and one quarter in a newer barrique, all blended together after about six months, and given about 20 months élevage in total.”
